Skin Serums for Dry Skin: Vitamin Skin Serums, Wrinkle Smoothing Serums, Eyelift Serums

Skin Serums

Skin serums work to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, while improving elasticity and texture. In fact, it doesn't take long for dry skin to become accustomed to products.

Prepare for your skin to either respond less positively than initially, or, reject a product, altogether.

Besides, it's good to have a variety in your skin care program - mix it up a little to keep your skin guessing.

Skin Serums for Dry Skin care

For dry skin types especially, the layering of products is easier when one of the products is a skin serums.

Skin serums fortified with hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in skin, enabling the skin to attract and retain water, offer a refreshing, hydrating boost to dry skin.

However, although there are a few exceptions, such serums often do not have enough moisturizing ability for dry skin types.

Dry skin sufferers should always, always apply a moisturizer in combination with a skin serum!

VIitamin C Skin Serums

Vitamins that protect us internally, when topically applied, may protect our skin. Research shows that a combination of vitamins C and E serum helps protect skin from UV rays and pollutants.
Both vitamine E and C, used considerably in salons and day spas, are powerful antioxidant nutrients that help protect cells from damage.

The result? A firmer, suppler, more youthful appearance as these serums work to minimize fine lines and wrinkles, while improving elasticity and texture in dry skin.

Vitamin C serum has a direct benefit for collagen and connective tissue. When collagen loses water due in part to age, stress, environmental and chemical pollution, and UV exposure, oxygen radicals begin to form in the skin, attacking the collagen layer and breaking it down - a process known as photo-aging.

Photo-aging is particularly common in dry skin types. Natural serums such as vitamin C serums can help keep dry skin moisturized and healthy without excess wax and other binders.

Free from petroleum-based ingredients, vitamin C serums are also extremely absorbable and leave dry skin feeling soft without feeling greasy.

Wrinkle Smoothing Skin Serums

The skin contains a substance known as Intercellular Substance, from which collagen and elastin fibers emerge. This substance is made up of mineral salts, trace elements and proteins.

The elements that compose Intercellular Substance help revitalize the skin providing it with strength and elasticity.

However, as the years go by, the Intercellular Substance content diminishes and the skin becomes thinner and drier, promoting the appearance of wrinkles.

Anti-wrinkle skin serums are effective in reducing the appearance of wrinkles in dry skin. Real skin boosting serums revive dry skin, leaving it feeling invigorated.

As a result, the skin is smoother and younger-looking with long lasting effects. If you choose to use an anti-wrinkle skin serum, be sure to follow-up with a wrinkle cream application to help moisturize skin.

Many over-the-counter antioxidant creams are available and work well with wrinkle smoothing serums.

Eyelift Serums

Eyelift serums can also act as a fast-absorbing restorative eye-soothing treat. Like booster shots that give your eye a nice life, eyelift serums help "lift" sagging skin under the eyes, as well as, provide moisture to dry skin.

Vitamins A, B and E (Rose Damascena, Eyebright and Elderflower Extracts) -enriched eyelift serums, help reduce the appearance of fine dry lines (e.g., Crow's Feet), and rejuvenate the delicate eye area.

Eyelift serum treatments that contain nourishing and healing cold-pressed base oils (e.g., Meadowfoam, Kukui Nut) also help pamper the delicate areas around the eye.

AHA's in Skin Serums

AHA's (Alpha Hydroxy Acids) comprised of naturally-occurring acids from sugar cane (glycolic acid), milk (lactic acid) and fruits (malic acid, ascorbic acid), gently loosen and lift dead cells so that they can be easily removed.

Proper Use of Skin Serums for Dry Skin

Skin serums are often preferred over creams or gels because they are faster absorbing. In fact, fluid facial skin serums are replacing the more traditional creams and lotions, which often contain many binders, waxes, etc.

When layering products, be sure to use only products that work synergistically with your existing dry skin care regimen, not mixing too many irritating products, which can further dry the skin.

Tip: While they used to be available only at the high-end product line, now you can find skin serums more moderately priced to fit on a shoestring budget!
