Dry Skin Scrubs: Your Product Guide For Better Skin Care
FACIAL SCRUBS
Are you looking for good dry skin scrubs? Like all living things, our cells grow, age and die. For this reason, a regular exfoliating skin scrub should be done to remove dead skin cells.
A "scrub" is a blend of pure sea salt, or fine brown sugar, combined with protective and moisturizing oils, which is then applied to wet skin and massaged around in a circular-like motion. Even dry, rough, chapped, calloused “man-hands” or cracked “sandal feet” are left baby soft and smooth.
SCRUBBING DRY SKIN
Scrubbing is especially effective for dry skin. Dry skin is more over laden with old, dead skin that clog the surface and create a dull lifeless appearance. However, people with dry skin must be particularly careful not to over-scrub or scrub to harshly, as this will irritate dry skin more so than it already is.
A common mistake is using an exfoliating scrub too often. People tend to believe that over-scrubbing will hasten the exfoliation process. Just the opposite is true: over scrubbing produces adverse affects, depleting dry skin of what little, precious moisture remains. Keep frequency to a minimal. Dry skin types can get away with a gentle scrub every two to three weeks.
Another mistake is scrubbing to hard. Rough, uneven scrubbing causes nicks and abrasions, and can result in mechanical damage, worsening the effects of dry skin. Again, in the long run, this [hard scrubbing] will only make dry skin, drier.
WHAT TO LOOK FOR IN SCRUBS
Some facial dry skin scrubs contain harsh chemicals and scrubbing compounds - with the chemicals burning and damaging the skin. Scrubbing, particularly for dry skin, must be done with a gentle product, and applied without unnecessary force, so as not to further damage the skin.
Facial scrubs that mostly contain exfoliating beads of some sort, and maybe a chemical type of ingredient to help exfoliate the skin, are not uncommon and can be effective. However, these facial exfoliating scrubs contain only a “carrier- medium” combined with scrubbing compounds. Scrubs with active ingredients provide more nourishment and feed dry skin, whilst you are sloughing off impurities and dead skin waste. Additionally, these help the newly exposed skin to function better. These will be a bit more costly, however, when you get right down to it: how much is your skin really worth?
Tips: Morning scrubs don't give your dry skin time to recover its defenses before you go outside. Scrub during the evening just before bedtime to give the scrubbing action time to work
